Introducing Tony: Our New Commercial Manager
Cambridge Spark is changing the way people learn Data Science and Software Engineering, and we’re hiring driven and passionate talent to join us as we look to grow.
Over recent months, we’ve introduced new and exciting business offerings, such as our graduate scheme and levy-approved apprenticeship. In addition, we’ve extended our flagship Applied Data Science Bootcamp offering for professionals with an in-person preparatory Python Bootcamp in London.
Tony joined Cambridge Spark’s commercial team in Cambridge to help us achieve our ambitious growth plans.
Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself and your background
“I’m a passionate and driven leader with over eight years of experience working as a manager in fast-paced corporate and start-up environments. If I was to choose two things I particularly enjoy doing professionally, it’s helping coach others to reach their full potential, though I have a strong interest in the commercialisation of products.”
“I was pretty lucky as my education combined science and business, leaving me with broad set of soft skills and technical experience.”
“Outside of work, I love to rest and unwind. I also have a strong love of good food and wine, being active outdoors, or escaping to a beach on a Greek island.”
Overall, the role was a perfect fit for me and it ticked all the boxes.
Q: What made you decide to join the Cambridge Spark team?
“For me, it was the team of incredibly inspiring, passionate and talented individuals. From the moment I met the team, I got the sense that it was a welcoming, friendly and supportive environment. You really get a strong sense of community here are at Cambridge Spark as there as there are plenty of social events and fun activities happening every month!”
“Additionally, the Data Science field has been getting a lot of cross-industry attention from the media, academia and companies at the forefront of their industries. This growing space is incredibly exciting to be working within; particularly with Cambridge Spark being at the forefront of delivering high quality, technical training to some big global names.”

Q: First impressions on joining the commercial team in Cambridge?
“I was genuinely blown away by how welcoming and supportive everyone in the company was, and to learn how driven everyone is to learn, grown and master their particular fields in the business. There’s a big sense of ownership and transparency across the business; two things which really appealed to me.”

Q: What did your first week look like?
“My first week was busy but incredible. I was greeted with an awesome welcome pack, which consisted of quality Cambridge Spark gear and a welcome card. I then had the opportunity to catch up with all of the team to learn about all of the great work they’ve been doing before we headed out as a team to sample the famously delicious food vans which rock up every Thursday.”
